Barber Martin, a Richmond, Virginia-based advertising agency,
awarded GFI this interior re-design project after reviewing other firms
in a regional competition. GFI proposed a working environment that reflects
the playful, energetic, engaging and professional people who work there.
Not only was GFI given the challenge of a high-end, progressive, corporate
space design on a limited budget, Barber Martin was also expanding to become
the sole tenant of their floor. The floor is broken up into four segments
with two central two-story atriums that make it impossible to centralize
the reception and conference area. GFI relocated these areas to a larger
quadrant of space, maximizing the square footage necessary to give the space
visual impact.
A cork floor running from the elevator lobby through a series of circular
materials and elements introduces the space to visitors. A commanding circular
desk and banquet seating area were designed as the focal elements in the
reception area. The conference rooms, corridors and open areas express a
dynamic, professional atmosphere with bright colors and light maple woods. |
